Cincinnati, OH – The Camp Washington Community Board, Inc. (CWCB) is the first neighborhood development corporation in Cincinnati to acquire a property through the Hamilton County Land Bank. The Camp Washington Community Board has plans to clean up, completely renovate and sell the house at 3063 Sidney Avenue, which had been foreclosed and abandoned since 2008. A prospective family is already lined up to help design and purchase the renovated house.

This will be the fifty-second house in Camp Washington that the CWCB has renovated and sold to a new homeowner. Since 1975, the community board has invested nearly $8 million in saving, constructing new, and renovating single-family houses and apartment buildings in Camp Washington. “The Land Bank is a great tool for local community development corporations to revitalize their neighborhoods,” said CWCB founder and executive director. “We have a few problematic properties we intend to acquire through the Land Bank. It is our goal to attract young families to live and invest as Camp Washington homeowners, and the Land Bank will be an important partner in fulfilling this goal.”

The Camp Washington Community Board is a member of the Community Development Corporations Association of Greater Cincinnati (CDCAGC), which includes CDCs in several Cincinnati neighborhoods that hope to benefit from the Land Bank. Financial support for the Community Board comes from house rentals and sales, Mad Max Bingo, City of Cincinnati Community Development, CDCAGC, grants, and the Camp Washington Business Association.

The Land Bank is known officially as the Community Partner Program of the Hamilton County Land Reutilization Corporation, which is operated by the Greater Cincinnati Port Authority.
